In a field of accomplished, polished contestants, memorability matters. Your “shtick” is not a gimmick—it is the authentic, distinctive quality that makes you stand out in a positive, professional way.
Start by identifying what makes you unique. This could be your story, your platform approach, your communication style, your career, or a signature skill. Reflect on what people naturally associate with you and what energizes you most.
Consistency is key. Your shtick should show up across interview, on-stage presence, social media, and written materials. For example, you might be known as the STEM advocate, the military leader, the dance educator, or the mental health champion. Judges remember clarity and cohesion.
Storytelling amplifies memorability. Share specific anecdotes that illustrate your passion and impact. Personal stories create emotional connection and make your message stick.
Finally, remain authentic. Forced uniqueness feels inauthentic. When your distinctiveness is rooted in genuine experience and purpose, judges will remember you long after the competition ends.
